You might be wondering how you can get a quick divorce.

Well in reality the process takes between four and six months.

Let me explain why.

Even though you have heard in the media about celebrities getting 60-second divorces in fact everyone has to follow the same process.

Firstly the petition is issued which sets out the grounds for the divorce which your spouse then acknowledges.

Then the actual divorce comes in two parts;

The decree nisi which confirms that you’re entitled to a divorce.

Then everyone by law has to wait a six-week cooling-off period before being able to apply for the decree absolute which finalises the divorce.

However there are factors that can slow this process down such as unresolved financial issues.

At AWB Charlesworth we have a wealth of experience in handling divorce cases no matter how complex.

Call us today to find out how we can help you.
